The sold out Nebraska Women in STEM Conference on April 3 & 4 was full of energy, connectivity, and insight.

A range of topics were covered by conference speakers including confronting fear of failure, navigating challenging times by examining expectations, and telling your story. Keynote speaker Dr. Raychelle Burks shared the importance of leading with your values. The popular extended networking break gave women time to network, build community, and enjoy exhibitors and hands on activities.

96 percent of attendee post-survey respondents reported they gained new skills to help their professional growth.

One participant shared: “ The positive support of everyone was amazing. I loved the focus on helping and lifting others and felt it throughout.”

Other observations from participants included:

“I met a lot of people in similar fields and was able to gain valuable skills from the breakout sessions.”

“I really enjoyed the time and space to connect with other folks from my organization and around Nebraska. It fills my cup to see people locally have the same challenges as I do, and comes at the end of the academic year when I most need it. I will continue to attend for these reasons alone!”

“Every interaction I had with another attendee was very genuine and I learned something new. What an amazing group!”

“It was nice that the conference maintained a very positive tone and was focused on how women can take advantage of opportunities to advance their careers and connect with others.”

The conference would not have been possible without this partnership between Bio Nebraska (a 501c4 organization) and Nebraska Cures (a 501c3 nonprofit), the conference planning committee, and generous sponsors representing a broad range of STEM organizations.

Work has already begun on planning the next conference on March 26 & 27, 2026.
