Omaha, NE – Bio Nebraska and Nebraska Cures announced today that they are accepting nominations for the second annual Nebraska Women in STEM Awards. The awards will honor one outstanding Nebraska woman in STEM and one outstanding business that is taking actions to decrease barriers for women in STEM. Nominations close on Friday, January 26 at midnight. The honorees will be recognized at the Nebraska Women in STEM Conference on Thursday, April 4 at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Omaha La Vista Hotel & Conference Center in La Vista, Nebraska.
Nominations can be made at here. A committee comprised of Nebraska women in STEM will review the nominations and determine the honorees.
Full Award Descriptions:
The Outstanding Woman in STEM Award honors a woman who has demonstrated a commitment to the STEM fields. Through specific actions the recipient has proven to be a leader and mentor in the STEM fields, breaking barriers and/or advocating for their peers and successors. The 2023 honoree was the University of Nebraska – Lincoln’s George Holmes Professor Biological Sciences Dr. Eileen Hebets.
The Award for Outstanding Organization is for a company, agency, department, employee resource group, or other organization that has taken demonstrable actions to decrease barriers and to promote participation for women in STEM. The 2023 honoree was the AIM Institute.
