Nebraska Women in STEM partnered with Nebraska Methodist College to give teens at Girls Inc. of Omaha the opportunity to meet with Dr. Raven Baxter while she was in Omaha for the Nebraska Women in STEM Conference.
Dr. Baxter, also known as Dr. Raven the Science Maven, shared what it was like to be a molecular biologist and drug researcher and challenged the girls’ perceptions of what a scientist is. Dr. Baxter shared her viral videos promoting science education and women in science through music. She showed them being a scientist is more than working in a lab and engaged them in discussion about their own career aspirations.
