Bio Nebraska and Nebraska Cures announced today that they are accepting nominations for the third annual Nebraska Women in STEM Awards.
The awards will honor one outstanding Nebraska woman in STEM and one outstanding business that is taking actions to decrease barriers for women in STEM. Nominations close on Friday, January 31 at midnight. The honorees will be recognized at the Nebraska Women in STEM Conference on Friday, April 4 at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Omaha La Vista Hotel & Conference Center in La Vista, Nebraska.
If you nominated someone in previous years, we encourage you to resubmit their name. Also, consider nominating an organization you are a part of for the organizational award. If you think your employer or ERG is doing a great job, let us know!
Nominations can be made at HERE. A committee comprised of Nebraska women in STEM will review the nominations and determine the honorees.
Full Award Descriptions:
The Outstanding Woman in STEM Award honors a woman who has demonstrated a commitment to the STEM fields. Through specific actions the recipient has proven to be a leader and mentor in the STEM fields, breaking barriers and/or advocating for their peers and successors. The 2024 honoree was Nancy Williams, and the 2023 honoree was the University of Nebraska – Lincoln’s Dr. Eileen Hebets.
The Award for Outstanding Organization is for a company, agency, department, employee resource group, or other organization that has taken demonstrable actions to decrease barriers and to promote participation for women in STEM. The 2024 honoree was Turner Construction Company, and the 2023 honoree was the AIM Institute.
