On April 26, Nebraska Cures recognized inspiring Omaha health and science leaders at our 2023 Spring Tribute Reception. Drs. Howard and Jennifer Liu received the Life Saver Award and Dr. Sara Myers was named the inaugural Woman in Science Awardee.
It was a lovely evening recognizing the lifesaving work of the Lius and being inspired by Dr. Myers’ career as a leading woman in science. Our community is stronger due to the remarkable work of these leaders.
Radius CEO Dr. Nick Juliano spoke to the impact of the Lius’ work in the areas of mental health and making health care more accessible to all. UNO Dean of the College of Education Dr. Nancy Edick spoke about watching Dr. Myers grow from a graduate student to the UNO Associate Vice Chancellor for Research and Creative Activity.
All the recipients showed tremendous gratitude to the people who have supported their growth and mentored them throughout their careers.
Instead of physical awards, the honorees selected community organizations committed to health and science for a financial gift from Nebraska Cures. The Lius selected Radius and Dr. Myers selected the Pregnancy Center.
Nebraska Cures is grateful to our event sponsors including Gold Sponsors Katie Weitz and Lynne & John Boyer.
Over the past 20 years, Nebraska Cures has annually presented the Life Saver award to philanthropists, scientists, clinicians, and educators who exemplify our mission to promote, support, and advocate for scientific research and education to advance our quality of life and our economy.
