Interested in attending UNMC’s Science Cafe? The next cafe is scheduled for Tuesday, August 6, 7:00 pm, at the Slowdown. Please join our guest speaker Dr. Michael Summers, as he presents “The Science of Sleep.”
Michael Summers, M.D., an assistant professor in internal medicine in the division of pulmonary, critical care, sleep and allergy at UNMC College of Medicine, is the featured speaker. His presentation replaces the previously announced Science Café on how the brain works, which has been canceled.
Dr. Summers currently serves as the medical director of the Sleep Disorders Center at the Nebraska Medical Center.
He received his medical degree from UNMC and went on to complete residency training in internal medicine, as well as fellowships in pulmonary and critical care medicine at Maine Medical Center. He completed sleep medicine fellowship training at Rush University in Chicago, where he stayed on staff for three years, serving as the associate fellowship program director.
Summers’ clinical interests include disorders of hypersomnolence, sleep breathing disorders, and restless leg syndrome. He has presented associated topics nationally for the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
